Old Kingstonians’ Association Constitution
Name
This name incorporates the following: Boulevard High School 1895-1940, Kingston High School 1940-1988, Kingston School 1988-2001, Pickering High School 2001-2009, Sirius Academy West since 2009 *
The purposes of the association
To act as a focal point for former members of the schools listed above.
Management
The management of the Old Kingstonians’ Association shall be carried out by a core group of volunteers, which will carry out the work of the Association on behalf of the membership.
Membership
The Association shall have a membership. Former pupils, staff or friends of Kingston High School * can apply to become a member on payment of £5.00. This is currently subject to review. An up-to-date membership list will be kept.
Annual report
The core group of volunteers will produce an annual report and accounts which will be presented to the membership by email or letter by March 31st each year.
Volunteers
Any person may volunteer to help in the running of the OKA in whatever capacity they wish, in agreement with the core group of volunteers. No person should be prevented from volunteering due to age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, colour, social status or orientation. The core group of volunteers will meet as and when necessary, in order to run the OKA as efficiently as possible for the good of the membership. Volunteers shall offer their services for as long as they wish and until they notify the Secretary that they wish to stand down. Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact a member of the Volunteer Group to discuss their role.
Accounts
The Treasurer will keep the accounts, update the core group of volunteers at each meeting and publish them for the membership annually.
Minutes
The Minutes Secretary will write up and retain the minutes of each core group of volunteers meeting.
Policies
The Association has a Privacy Policy and Finance Policy to support this document and the core group of volunteers in running the Association.
Amendments
The core group of volunteers may make reasonable amendments to this document in order to help run the Association.
Extraordinary meetings
The core group of volunteers must call an EGM if they receive a written request from at least ten members. All members must be given fourteen days notice and told the reason for the meeting. All decisions at an EGM require a two-thirds majority of those in attendance. The core of volunteers may also call an EGM to consult the membership.
Winding up
Any money and property remaining after payment of debts will be disposed of as agreed at an EGM
