Reunion Dinner 9th October 2015
What a splendid way to end this year of celebration and to welcome people who attended the school in the 1940s through to the 1970s. Posters, leaflets and even a spot on Radio Humberside all helped to publicise this event and the exhibition. In spite of the competition from the opening night of Hull Fair, members and guests met to enjoy a superb meal in the 1904 Lounge at the KC Stadium. Welcomed by the committee, people were able to look at memorabilia including photographs, magazines and trophies.
Our guest speaker Capt. Amanda Harrison entertained and informed us about her proposed re-creation of Amy Johnson’s epic flight. Vicky Johnson, a distant relative of Amy’s and a local BBC journalist, spoke to Amanda about the reasons for undertaking this adventure and then invited questions from the members. Rick Welton, who is the organiser for the Amy Johnson Festival in 2016, told us of the aims of the festival. It is hoped the Association will take an active part in this.
For many this proved a chance to meet old friends, make new ones and reminisce. 120 years of education is surely something we should be proud of and the affection most former pupils still feel for the school is very encouraging. Thanks go to the committee for their hard work to ensure the event was a success.
