Winifred Mary Johnson - Cricketer

Winifred Mary Johnson (known as Mary) was born on 7 November 1924, and attended Boulevard Municipal Secondary School, Kingston High School’s predecessor school. She became a PE teacher in Blackpool and a cricketer (a right arm fast bowler), playing for England Women, Lancashire Women, North Women and Yorkshire Women. She made her Test debut in the Adelaide during the 1949 match between Australia Women and England Women, and went on to play in a total of ten Test matches, her last being in 1954 against New Zealand at the Oval.
